This Must Be The Place

Every effective leader knows that you can win with good players. And you can lose with good players. But you cannot win without good players.

One of the things that separates winning and losing teams is how the team’s good players are placed. Take a look at what I mean:

The Wrong Person in the Wrong Place = REGRESSION

The Wrong Person in the Right Place = FRUSTRATION

The Right Person in the Wrong Place = CONFUSION

The Right Person in the Right Place = PROGRESSION

The Right Person in the Right Place = MULTIPLICATION

We should not only use all the brains we have, but all that we can borrow.

Give Them What They Really Want

Leading yourself is no easy task. It takes self-discipline, planning, and the opportunity to get the job done. But leading a team is different – and much more difficult. It starts with a better understanding of human nature.

As you lead your team, remember that the people on your team will always want five things from you:

1) Authenticity that enables a solid connection
2) Confidence that empowers and inspires them
3) Awareness and ability to meet people’s needs
4) Ability to lead with strategic direction
5) Moments of victory during the journey

If you provide those five things, people will always have good reasons to follow you.

Turning the Team Around

In the late 1970’s Bill Walsh took over the leadership of the San Francisco 49ers. Within two years, he turned a team that had been a doormat into a dynasty of NFL champions. Here’s his formula:

1. Resist the urge to clean house. Give yourself time to evaluate existing talent, and give the team time to learn what you’re looking for. Those who can supply it will be worth your patience. Those who can’t will move on.

2. Seize control from the start. A committee can’t save a sinking ship. Make sure all major decisions go through you.

3. Take inventory of assets and obstacles. You need to know what hand you’ve got before you can play. List the team’s pluses and minuses, including personnel, attitudes, administration, and perceptions.

4. Find the hidden gems. Look for raw talent, not just a solid track record. Quarterback Joe Montana was third-round draft pick, small and inconsistent. But Walsh saw Montana’s potential when he rallied Notre Dame to win the 1979 Cotton Bowl. Walsh’s theory: One miracle can become a life skill with training, support and practice.

Can I Just Say...

My pastor gave the best service this past Sunday or he would want me to say God really spoke to me Sunday and honestly I guess HE did because I am truly move by this message. It is what I needed to hear for every aspect of my life, I bought two tapes and gave one to my boss and the other I kept for my husband to listen, he’s out of town and that one I hope anyone that wants to will ask to borrow it.

He spoke to the Grapevine High School football TEAM, about Wisdom Gained From the TEAM Experience. He was the Chaplin for their team and the season is over, so the coach and the team were - there anyway it was a Kodak moment type service.

Together Experiencing A Mission”

Now the above can be said about anything in your life, can’t it? There is a mission in parenting, in your marriage in the workplace and you certainly know where our pastor went with this as far as God and the church, borrow the tape if not ;o) it’s great!

“The world is a lab for learning life.” Jesus put a team together out of ordinary, different people with different talants, from all walks of life and made them come together to form a TEAM – they were his disciples.

“All players have a place where they add the most value”. Everyone needs to feel significant. As soon as we don’t feel loved or significant that is when things seem to fall apart in our lives. Think about it when you "Lose that lovin' feeling!" you get down in the dumps about everything. Who is the BEST person to turn to in those times, GOD? Think about how awesome your life would be if you turned to HIM at every moment for every thing!!

God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. Romans 12:6 NLT

“Attitudes are contagious”. I like sending these positive messages to lift my own spirit. It is a positive reinforcement for myself. I only pray that it touches even just one other person.

Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do. Proverbs 4:23 NLT

Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. Proverbs 10:12 NIV

Missing You!

One week without my husband around and GEES! - You know God, I really didn’t need him to go away on a business trip to be aware and appreciate how awesome of a husband he is or how much he does for me and Joshua. What a week we had from a dying squirrel to a mouse in the garage! That was just the tip of the adventures, the dying squirrel led to Josh and me trying to walk a 230 lbs dog down the street so he could do his business for the evening. He weighs more than what we weigh put together so just picture me with one leash, Josh with another, I have a feeling we looked like we were skiing on land! It was the making for a winning America’s Funniest Home Video.

So, babe if reading this makes you feel closer to home, well then it was worth writing. I wanted to reach out and tell you how much I miss you and can’t wait to put my arms around you!
